A popular destination for antique hunters is Jew Town, a little lane between Mattancherry Palace and the Synagogue. Visitors to this site have uncovered some of the most pristine and historically significant artefacts of our time. While a large bronze jar initially draws your attention, each of the shops here is filled with lovely artefacts that have odd and intriguing back stories. The Iswary Mandir is a beautiful example of Maratha architecture, with intricate carvings and paintings depicting scenes from Hindu epics. The temple has a large courtyard, where devotees gather to offer prayers and perform rituals. The temple also has a sacred pond, where it is said that Goddess Iswary appeared to bless Nana Sahib and his followers.
